G. Krishnamoorthy, aka G. K. (Mammootty), is a cartoonist and investigative journalist working in New Delhi. G. K. falls in love with New Delhi dancer Maria Fernandes (Sumalatha). C. R. Pattakathi Bairavan (Sivaji Ganesan) is a notorious criminal sought by the police for several murders which he commits using his customary dagger (pattakathi).
