On the auspicious day of Dusshera, a London based guy, Takila (Rajesh Parasher) lands in Chandigarh to marry an Indian girl. He enters his chacha's (Chander Mohan Parasher) house, & instead of meeting his would-be-bride girl Maya (Faguni Verma), a Punjabi girl, he gets caught in the web of an income tax raid. Income tax Deputy Director Mr. Pappi Sharma (Perry) makes Takila his witness in the raid - an Income tax officer, Ms. Mishti (Iti Mahajan), a Bengali girl, notices that Maya has not come yet, so she starts trying to impress Takila in order to settle in London.Meanwhile, another girl named Hetal (Aarti Dhariwal), a Gujrati girl, who teaches dandiya to Chachi (Ramniq Sandhu), starts cajoling Takila, as she also wants to settle down abroad. The basic injustice at the core of Gangvaa is the way the landed classes take advantage of ordinary village folk. Early on in the film, a work crew finds a pot full of gold coins, and a suitably mustache-twirling zamindar (Amrish Puri) confiscates them to add to his already massive wealth. Enter Gangvaa (Rajnikanth) to save the day; Gangvaa kills Zamindar and his goons. Gangvaa puts together a band of the men who had suffered under the Zamindar's tyranny. Together they hang out in the wilderness and perform Robin-Hood-esque raids for the sake of vigilante justice. At some point Jamna (Shabana Azmi) encounters Gangvaa and is smitten.
