Rajeshwar is the only son of Dharamraj, who is an industrialist, and partners with Naglingam Reddy, Nagendra, and Dhanraj. Rajeshwar then meets a girl from a poor family Bharati, who happens to be his school teachers daughter and falls in love with her. Bharati's father is Vishnupratap a schoolteacher, who is really unhappy for he is unable to earn enough money to feed his family and provide them with basic amenities. He and other teachers work in the school managed by Dharamraj. The fund management headed by Dhanraj have been for years without giving any hike in fees to teachers making them work. When Rajeshwar comes to know of these he starts confronting each lie of the partners.Bharati has a neighbour, Tilak, who is unemployed, and lives with his mother, Sharda, who works as a maidservant in Dhanraj's house. Later he gets the job of a manager in Dharamraj industries and starts almost obstructing all the criminal activities carried out by the three partners. Rajeshwar gets impressed with the sincerity of Tila. Meanwhile, Tilak falls in love with the Dhanraj'daughter, Rani. Dharamraj accidentally meets Sharda and he realises that Tilak is his long lost nephew. Dharamraj tells Rajeshwar the history of his family and how Tilak is related to him. Babyji a.k.a Mummyji (Kirron Kher) is a modern mother who lives in Chandigarh with her husband (Kanwaljeet) and their three adult children. A Sikh bachelor (Jackie Shroff), who was Mummyji's college classmate, stays close to their house and often visits the family. Her husband takes this in good humour as he is also friends with the bachelor. A maid (Divya Dutta) is the gossipmonger of the housing society. Soon, Mummyji finds suitable brides for her two sons. To her surprise, the bride, who seems to fit into her criteria for her daughters-in-law, reveal their true colours after marriage. While her homely daughter-in-law breaks into an outrageous dance at her other son's wedding, her NRI daughter-in-law turns out to be a cheat, who was trying to swindle the family! However, life soon returns to normalcy as the daughter-in-laws come around. Next, Mummyji also discovers that her son has actually been operating a night-club and had lied to her about running a restaurant. Mummyji is aghast but takes it in her stride. Soon, both her sons and their wives leave for the US for better prospects. An ageing Mummyji and husband are left behind alone with the daughter. Mummyji's bachelor-friend also gets married.
